In its 77th year of extending its services to the fisherfolk and other stakeholders of the fisheries industry, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource-Region 1 personnel and staff, who have been working hard, tendered some of their time to have fun and enjoy the one-day celebration of the bureauโ€™s anniversary.

Blessing everyoneโ€™s well-being and to further nurture the faith among employees, a solemn thanksgiving mass was held. This was followed by the sharing and reading of Regional Director Rosario Segundina P. Gaerlanโ€™s message anchored on theme: โ€œBoost, Fulfill, Achieve, and Riseโ€, which is a continuing battle cry in order to realize the vision of an improved quality of life for the fisherfolk. In her message, she encouraged everyone to remain true to their oaths as public servants, especially on taking part of the organizationโ€™s noble aspirations. Her message is also posted in the agency’s social media page.

Taking part in the office’s anniversary, assisted fisherfolk associations in the region marketed their agri-fishery products through the KADIWA ng Pangulo, through the initiative of the Fisheries Production and Support Service Division (FPSSD)- Marketing Unit.

An orientation on KonSulTa: Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama by Philhealth personnel was held in the afternoon wherein various comprehensive outpatient benefits were presented. As dedicated public servants who offer most of their time for the officeโ€™s clients rather than on themselves, BFAR-RFO1 personnel and staff deserved to be secured in terms of health benefits. Furthermore, through the effort of its Human Resources, each of its workforce shall be registered and be eligible to avail of the KonSulTa package.

The employees also brought out their wit, talent, and camaraderie to win the competitions organized through the FishTinikan. This include Dishkarte (Cooking contest) facilitated by the Regional Fisheries Training and Fisherfolk Coordination Division (RFTFCD)- Training Section, and fun tournamet on the traditional game “sungka”, facilitated by the Finance and Administrative Section.

Other activities include ball games such as volleyball and basketball organized by the sportโ€™s coordinator; IsdaPitik 2.0 (Photojournalism) facilitated by the RFTFCD-Information Section; an online FishBee, to be conducted by the Provincial Fishery Offices in collaboration with the stations; coastal clean-up at Sto. Tomas, La Union facilitated by the Casantaan Satellite Station and the Fisheries Management, Regulatory and Enforcement Division (FMRED), and an orientation on Basic Life Support to be facilitated by the Human Resource Management Unit, the Regional Mariculture Technology Demonstration Center (RMATDEC), and the FMRED. There will also be a recognition of length of services of personnel, performances, and awarding of the Fishtinikan winners.

Sweets also made the day more delightful; coated with laughs and giggles of each and everyone who, in many ways, continuously contribute for the development of the fishery industry for a Bagong Pilipinas!
