Of the 77 years of service to the Filipino fisherfolk communities, personnel and staff of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in the Ilocos Region gets to experience an extraordinary and vibrant atmosphere, different from that of their work areas.
Building camaraderie and trust towards one another, the bureau, through the facilitation of the Finance and Administrative Section (FAS) in collaboration with all operating units of the regional office, held series of activities during the 2nd part of the founding anniversary celebration in Santiago, Ilocos Sur.
Regional Director Rosario Segundina P. Gaerlan, happily congratulated everyone for a โjob well doneโ and for an accomplished half semester of the year, enjoining everyone to have fun.
One of the activities was the Seminar on Stress and Anger Management, part of the Learning and Development of BFAR.
Bright and resilient, Dr. Leonarda Romasanta Aguinalde was the subject matter expert who left amusing and profound phrases such as โWhen you are angry, you send poison to your bodyโฆbecause poison could kill; thus, being angry could kill.โ, and โIf you donโt ask, the answer is always noโ. She left a message with an acronym of DPWHโand that is, to Dream Big, Plan, and Work Hardโ. Truly, her insights brought not just laughter, but new life learning to everyone.
In the evening, a parade of workforces in every Operating Unit dressed in Hawaiian attire, was conducted during the BFAR Uno Night.

Meanwhile, recognizing their years of service in BFAR, each Contract of Service staff of five years and above were given a certificate of โGawad Paglilingkodโ and a simple token of appreciation. RD Rosario Segundina P. Gaerlan (Director II), Mrs. Melanie D. Palencia (Aquaculturist II), and Mr. Reginald Laxum T. Atabay (Chief FRO) were also recognized for 35, 15, and 10 years of service respectively, with a plaque and token of appreciation.
Furthermore, the exemplary performance of the respective Operating Units/Divisions/Stations for CY 2023 were also recognized through a certificate and some amount for their โsalo-salo togetherโ.
The announcement and receiving of awards in FishTinikan (friendly tournaments) such as ball games, IsdaPitik 2.0 (photojournalism), Dishkarte(cookfest), sungka, and fishbee were also conducted.
The overall event was not just filled with fun, but with warmth as one BFAR Uno family.
