Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur- The Paratong Asenso Fisherfolk Association in the town, a beneficiary of the DA-BFAR Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Phase II, was awarded with livelihood inputs for their second cycle on June 18, 2024.

The 18 members of the FA received a total of 12,500 tilapia fingerlings, initial 15 bags of aquafeeds, and other essential ulture materials. This support aims to boost productivity and enhance their livelihood.

The awarding activity was led by PPMO, together with the Local Government Unit of Sta. Catalina headed by Municipal Mayor Edgar Rapanut, demonstrating their collective support for the SAAD program.

Frencio Regua, a dedicated member of the association, expressed heartfelt gratitude saying โ€œTaos-pusong pasasalamat namin sa BFAR sa proyektong ibinigay sa aming asosasyon. Malaking tulong ito sa amin bilang karagdagang kita. Bilang kasapi ng asosasyon, sama-sama nating pagtulungan na maging matagumpay ang proyektong ipinagkaloob sa atin ng BFAR. Maraming salamat po.โ€

During their first cropping cycle, the association achieved a total harvest of 698 kilograms of tilapia, generating sales amounting to โ‚ฑ90,740. This achievement underscores the impact of the SAAD program in improving the economic opportunities for local fisherfolk.
