During the meeting, the council aims to discuss and evaluate their past sectoral engagements and plan for the remaining period of the year. The council is also set to conduct a gender and development (GAD) learning session to advance gender equality through policy recommendations of fisherfolk organizations. A site visit and meeting with fisherfolk organizations in Mariculture Park, women processors group, tilapia hatchery, and multi-species hatchery within the province will also be held. This will enable the council to learn best practices employed by fisherfolk organizations that the council can utilize in developing their plans, project and policy recommendations for the sector.

The meeting coincides with the celebration of the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) 61st Fish Conservation Week making the activity an important opportunity to foster unity towards sustainable fisheries development under the unifying brand of government dubbed as “Bagong Pilipinas” of PBBM.
