The reactivation of the search, spearheaded by the Department of Agriculture-Regional Office 1 (DA-RO1) together with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Regional Office 1 (BFAR-RFO1), aims to honor and reward the dedication, innovation, and sustainability efforts of Filipino fisherfolk who contribute to food security, environmental conservation, and the advancement of the fisheries industry.

During the two-day evaluation the nominees with their scrapbooks, were meticulously reviewed to assess their achievements and best practices, highlighting their commitment to fish capture and aquaculture development, and empowerment of their community.

One (1) regional nominee per category will move forward to the national level, where they will compete for the prestigious title of Outstanding Fisherfolk and FARMC of the Year. Regardless of the outcome, all the nominees have made significant contributions to their communities and the country’s fisheries industry.

BFAR Regional Fisheries Office No. 1 extends our heartfelt congratulations to all the nominees and expresses our deep appreciation for their hard work and dedication. For updates on this, please stay tuned as we continue to celebrate and support the unsung heroes of our seas and inland waters!
