The year 2025 got off to a productive start for the Buraan Fisherfolk Association (BFA) of Burgos, Ilocos Norte, as they continued the construction of two (2) units of Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) provided through the DA-BFAR Special Area for Agricultural Development-Phase II program.
The BFA, headed by President Marcial R. Bagaoisan, expressed gratitude for the training and technical knowledge provided, which significantly improved the construction process and efficiency.
Burgos, a coastal town on the northern coast of Ilocos Norte, relies on one of the primary livelihoods of townsfolkโfishing. The Fish Aggregating Device (FAD), locally known as payao, deployed in fishing grounds are vital for attracting pelagic fish species like tunas and round scads, enhancing the primary livelihoods of the coastal community.
