The Fisheries Management Area 6 Coordinating Unit 1 (FCU1) recently concluded a successful three-day capacity-building training on Aquaculture Fisheries Infrastructure Standards on July 2- 4, 2025. The training brought together key stakeholders from Anda and Sual, Pangasinan; Cabugao, Ilocos Sur; and Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.

‎‎The training revolved around the MARLIN 2.3 Operations Manual, presented by Engr. Marlon Aguilar, NPMO Fisheries Infrastructure Engineer. Engr. Aguilar provided a comprehensive walkthrough of the process, detailing each stage of implementing infrastructure subprojects, with a particular emphasis on the crucial requirements for detailed engineering design.

‎‎Building on this foundation, Lea Myr Cadapan, Senior Fishing Regulation Officer, led a session on the critical role of feasibility studies. Her presentation underscored the technical complexities involved and stressed the essential need for active participation and collaboration with Local Government Units (LGUs).

‎‎The overarching goal of the training was to significantly enhance the establishment, development, construction, operation, and maintenance of fisheries-related infrastructure. By strengthening these capabilities, FCU1 aims to foster robust livelihood and enterprise development, improve overall productivity, and generate sustainable income opportunities for coastal communities.

‎‎The training culminated in a significant agreement between FCU1 and the participating LGUs. This agreement ensures compliance with all necessary requirements, particularly concerning tenurial instruments—a crucial step towards securing long-term project sustainability.
