The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources- Region 1 attended and delivered a Message of Support during the orientation of eight farmer associations to the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farming Program, spearheaded by the SM Foundation Inc. on July 10, 2025 at SM City Laoag Mall Event Center, Ilocos Norte.
BFAR is among the valuable partners of the SM Foundation Inc. for this endeavor, and will be responsible for the provision of any assistance the beneficiaries may need. Other partner agencies include the Department of Agriculture, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, among others.
Farmer-beneficiaries from Laoag and Dingras, Ilocos Norte, with 25 members from each association, will undergo three (3) months of hands-on lectures on farming, marketing, and business. They will also be provided with demonstration site for practical application, assisted by accredited trainors.
The program has a total grant of PHP10 million as seed capital and cash-for-work.
